Zamioculcas Zamifolia Triptych
You've probably seen these plants before, but the name isn't a familiar one - Zamioculcas zamifolia, also known as a "Zuzu Plant" or "Emerald Palm". Their straight stalks and rich green, waxy leaves make beautiful, striking shapes.
This original painting is a triptych in which each panel measures 4" x 11", with hand torn, deckled edges. I had several fragments of old cyanotypes printed on a lovely thick cotton paper, and I've reused those fragments here by gessoing over the paper (so there's still a hint of the cyanotype's blue that shows through), and then drew with pencil and finished with watercolor.
