Ficus Elastica Triptych
Ficus elastica - aka rubber tree - has a lovely deep green leaf that shows a bit of red through the brown stems and stalks. They fold and wave in subtle ways and their leaves and stalks are strong and hardy.
This original painting is a triptych in which each panel measures 4" x 11", with hand torn, deckled edges. I had several fragments of old cyanotypes printed on a lovely thick cotton paper, and I've reused those fragments here by gessoing over the paper (so there's still a hint of the cyanotype's blue that shows through), and then drew with pencil and finished with watercolor.
